Saturday Quote

Published by LifeIsAJourney.org under on 5:00 AM

I read a great quote in an email this week from a good friend Rl Brown.  Recently they had experienced a fire and lost some items to it.  I hope some day I grow up to be like him!

"As we sorted thru the debris over the last several days we laughed as we realized how really little value this stuff had, how meaningless it was when compared with what we really cherish, and how poor we would be if this stuff was all that matter to us.

We cherish each of you, Journey, our families, and our relationship with our God.  The rest is really just meaningless stuff that is available at Walmart."

We are all blessed to have Rl as one of our elders (the eldest I might add!)

I hadn't heard about their fire and I'm grateful they are all safe and already seeing the positives in their "disaster". The home I grew up in recently had a fire, and as destructive as it was, it was eye-opening to what is really important in this world. It was great to see family and friends rally support around my parents in their time of distress. As frustrating as the process of rebuilding can be for them, I think they are almost relieved to be rid of 30+ years of "junk".

It's funny how losing something makes us realize how much we truly have.
