Book Review - Questioning Evangelism by Randy Newman

One of the greatest privileges our Lord gives us is that, as the Church, we get to communicate His plan of salvation to a lost world. Oftentimes, though, I feel so ill-prepared to communicate the good news about Jesus Christ, and it doesn't help that many people have some difficult reasons for why they don't believe. I desire to give answers that will draw them closer to Jesus, but I feel that the majority of the time I end up making myself (and by association, Jesus) look like a weirdo and/or irrelevant. Questioning Evangelism has encouraged me to be unafraid to answer people's objections with questions that will challenge them to think about their flawed world view, in order to then open their hearts and minds to be able to hear why I believe what I believe and why it's relevant and significant to our lives. It's especially helpful that in every chapter Newman addresses different questions people are asking to challenge Christianity. Questions like, "Why does a good God allow evil and suffering?", "Why should we believe the Bible?" and "How can Christians believe they are the only true way to God?". He even gives sample dialogues of what skeptics or seekers can say and how we can respond. Newman also does a fantastic job of keeping the book very interesting by including plenty of interesting accounts of his own interactions with non-believers. If you're looking to take your calling to spread the gospel to the next level, this book is for you.
